Researchers at the University of Colorado and Rocky Mountain Regional VA Medical Center in Denver have joined together in creating a firearm-safety specific component of advance care planning: how to responsibly transfer, remove or dispose of firearms owned by an individual who has become physically or mentally disabled, or who has passed away. This news report states “Up to 60% of people with dementia live in homes with a firearm, according to an overview of gun-related injury and death published in 2019.”

You can access information and documents, including a firearm inventory worksheet, from the Firearm Life Plan online here.
