  Resources for Educators

Gun violence kills one American child every 3 hours...That means every 2 days, one classroom of children is lost to gun violence.

As an educator, you understand the importance of information and know its power to create change. As gun violence continues to be a growing epidemic in America, we need to make changes now – or else we stand to lose many more special young lives. You are essential to this process.

Help students arm themselves with knowledge, not guns.

Have your students take the pledge against gun violence

The Student Pledge Against Gun Violence is a national program that honors the role that young people, through their own decisions, can play in reducing gun violence. Each October, the Day of National Concern, takes place during National Safe Schools Week. Find out how you can help organize this day at your school.

Promote the Speak Up campaign among your students

Teach them to tell an adult or call 1-866-SPEAK-UP to report a weapon threat.

Contact us to request materials for parents and children. Order 'Everybody's Business' Cards.

Children who find a gun are likely to play with it. View the results of this 2001 study.
