Governor DeWine announced improvements in Ohio’s background check system today.

It is a positive move that he is asking the Ohio General Assembly to mandate local agencies participation to add people to the criminal data base that have warrants out for violent crimes.  If a background check is used they would be prohibited from purchasing firearms.  Unfortunately private sales do not have to have background checks for gun transfers.

Ohio Senator Cecil Thomas has introduced SB 63 which would  mandate a background check on all sales by making all gun transfers go through licensed dealers.

All members of our Ohio General Assembly need to hear from their constituents. It is past time for them to take action on guns. Have them give us the safety we need for our families.
