Ohio Gun Lobby Bills

House Bill 347 PASSED December 2006

Link to HB 347 as passed by the Senate

GOVERNOR VETOED- HOUSE AND SENATE OVERRODE THE VETO

1. Preemption of local laws regulating firearms 2. Remove prohibitions on places hidden guns may be carried 3. Remove the requirement to keep loaded guns in cars in plain sight for the protection of law enforcement.

OHIO LEGISLATORS CHOOSE GUN LOBBY AGAIN

Ohio Senators and Representatives ignored the rights of the people of Ohio and showed their lack of respect for our choice to govern our own communities by voting for and overriding the veto on HB 347. HB 347 makes it easier to obtain and carry loaded hidden weapons in public in Ohio and preempts all local firearm ordinances that are stonger than state law.

Ohio has more than 80 local ordinances regulating firearms. Many of them have to do with: firearm dealers, child safety, large capacity magazines, semi-automatic assault weapons, and waiting periods.

The Senate voted 21-12 to override the Governors veto of HB 347. The Representatives in the Ohio House voted to override the veto 71-21. They are not representing the people of Ohio by taking their rights to govern away.
