June 30, 2017: Gun Lobby Bills Hearing Scheduled for Week of Independence Day

The week of Independence Day should be about celebrating the founding of our nation and spending time with loved ones. But Wednesday, July 5, the House Federalism and Interstate Relations Committee has hearings and possible votes scheduled on two horrible gun bills.

During this week of remembrance for the mass shootings in Orlando and Charleston, we are deeply saddened that elected officials, their staff and Capitol Police detail experienced the horrific mass shooting this morning. The 5 people injured this morning are now part of the 33,000 Americans who die and 81,000 Americans injured by gun violence every year.

Ohio #WearOrange Events June 2 - June 3

Like so many Americans, Hadiya was taken from her loved ones far too soon. Hadiya's friends and family decided to honor her death with action, and decided to wear orange -- the color that hunters wear in the woods for safety -- to raise awareness and prevent future senseless gun deaths. Their action has inspired a national movement, with millions of Americans and people around the world participating in Wear Orange for National Gun Violence Awareness Day each June.
