No Background Check, No Gun, No Excuses
The Ohio Coalition Against Gun Violence joins the country and the world to send our prayers and sympathy to the victims and survivors of the tragedy of violence at Virginia Tech.
As so many of the victims and survivors have expressed, this was a tragedy that they will never "get over". It has changed their lives forever. They can never be the same.
Our hope is that we will refuse to stay the same and will pledge to work to change the culture of violence in this country.
There are nearly 200 million firearms in private hands in the United States. Most years there are over 12,000 homicides with guns. Each of those victims is survived by family, friends and communities. Each of them loved by someone.
We have a choice to ignore it and experience it over and over or accept our shared responsibility to end injustice and all forms of violence.
